A friend of mine wrote this in December of 2011, and she has allowed me to take it and post it here.

"...but shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness."     2 Timothy 2:16

"....Shun profane and idle babblings..."  The word "shun" means to "avoid deliberately, keep away from."

Avoiding profane and idle talk is hard.  It's hard not to be around it.  It's hard not to participate in it.

But it goes on to say, "...for they will increase to more ungodliness."  That is a pretty major consequence.  It is worth the cost of the extra effort that it takes to avoid things that might seem to be "fun."
